About Thornber HR Law

Jargon Free and Approachable

Thornber Employment Law provides outstanding employment law advice and human resources services. Ben Thornber is different to other lawyers: he cuts out the jargon, takes a hands-on approach and gives you a straight practical answer.

Bens’ approach:

  • looks at the bigger picture – to make sure you decide what’s best for you
  • keeps things simple – so that you know where you stand
  • goes the extra mile – to ensure you receive the excellent personal service you deserve

Based in Dunfermline, Ben works with clients in Fife and across Scotland.  He is also an integral part of the United Employment Lawyers network, which gives him access to the support and back up of employment law experts right across Scotland.   This ensures strength and depth in supporting clients’ requirements.

Ben has acted for organisations of all shapes and sizes, including companies both large and small, universities and colleges, schools, outsourcers and contractors, pension scheme members, senior executives, insolvency administrators, senior executives and other employees.

Winning Record at all Levels

He has advised on many large scale redundancies and restructurings, negotiated terminations at the most senior level, and handled trade union disputes and collective consultation issues.  He has also been the lead lawyer on several multi-day and multi-claim discrimination claims, and has an excellent winning record in the employment tribunals for both employers and individuals.

In addition to complex and technical areas of law, Ben has the personality and practical common sense to advise businesses and employees about day-to-day staff issues.  He can relate to everyday situations and to key players; his no-nonsense style delivers results.

From an HR perspective, Ben has conducted investigations, handled redundancy and consultation meetings, negotiated with trade union representatives, and represented individuals facing internal hearings. He has a wealth of experience in designing training programmes, delivering training to staff and presenting at seminars.  There is no clear dividing line between HR support and employment law, so the better the knowledge of employment law the better the hr support received.  With Ben Thornber, you get the best of both.

Clear Practical Expert Help

Legal directories the Legal 500 and Chambers have described him as ‘concise and pragmatic’ and as having a ‘strong depth of knowledge and being commercially and strategically minded’.

If you are looking for clear, practical help from a real expert, give Ben a call today. He’s approachable, accessible and will work as part of your team.
